Fun movie quiz: name that movie from its still. I got 15 that I could easily answer. A couple are really bugging me though. Oh and by the way, there is an (quite easier) part 2 which I got 23/30.

Torino 2006 Olympics men’s hockey team rosters. This is what I find interesting about the professional-NHL/amateur-olympic status of a lot of these guys: the’re playing with players they professionally play against (and vice-versa).

Mechanical pong! The video explains the complex machine.

“The medal reveals the place where the heart beats, the symbol of life itself.” The thoughts behind the design of the Torino 2006 olympic medals (which I particularly like even more after reading this).

Photos of old school NY pool hustlers. “Starting in January of 2002, I started photographing this community of underground pool hustlers, one of the last remaining social clubs of ‘old NewYork’. Over the past ten years pool halls all over the city have been sold and turned into flashy sports bars, waitresses serving martinis to the ‘after work’ crowd; The players now conregating between three pool halls throughout the entire metropolitan area.”

Une tortue adopte un hippopotame après un tsumani. Cela devient donc une nouvelle famille tortupopotamienne ou hippotortuaise?

Two great animated music videos battles for your viewing pleasure. A captivating cut-out viking/transformer rock battle and ‘Queens Of The Stone Age’ deliver a western-trucky-badass orgasm of hate and destruction in Go with the flow (older I know, but still good). Notice the visual imagery combined with the music, all fitting together neatly in the story-telling.

À tout mes chers amis et amies musiciens qui font trop de gigs de mariages: la meilleure version du canon de Pachelbel que vous allez entendre (et probablement vous rendre encore plus tanné de la version originale).

2006 World Press Photo Winners Gallery. Plusieurs très saisissantes. J’pense que je vais commencer une collection de photos grand format. (Via Kottke)

Every week typophile.com has a type battle: a typographic topic is proposed (a font, caracter, ponctuation…) and everybody pools in their entry, comments are made and it results in some quite creative designs. It’s all for fun: the type geeks and well as non-designers should get a kick out of it. This week: Cooper black ligatures.

Click refresh for more surprises.

Nudie is the naked truth about denim. “Denim has the ability to age beautifully – formed by its user into a second skin, naked and personal.” I’m a sucker this kind of tough clothing. They even suggest not to wash your jeans for the first 6 (!) months.

Scratch the world. I’m still debating on how this was made… are the cars and pedestrians all CGI? Quite impressive.
