Now this is what I call clever: using ligatures in OpenType to make small infographic charts. Compose a string of numbers (eg. 3+36+49+12), choose the font and it turns it into a pie, bar or line chart. Most excellent use of digital font technology.
Now, we just need browsers to support OpenType ligatures…

A single line of CSS code that will greatly improve you’re site’s typography, thus legibility. Especially in you’re using a large font-size. Put it in the body selector.So you need a typeface. m’yes? iQ font: when branding becomes clever once again. When car manufacturers realize times have changed and their latest model on a scenic background won’t even sell to the least demanding baby-boomer. Amateurs de typographie et d’interfaces web bien ajustées, allez jeter un coup d’oeil à l’excellent site de la Fondation Cartier. L’exposition en cours — intitulée « Né dans la rue – Graffiti » — se consacre au graffiti et à l’art urbain, et s’expose sur la page d’entrée du site, proposant d’emblée au visiteur de parcourir sa bibliothèque de tags répertoriés. La classification n’est pas claire à mes yeux incultes de calligraphie canne-de-spray (par lettre?), mais elle ne nuit nullement à l’exploration et à la découverte d’expressions graphiques cachées. Saturday typography: Dutch designer Christoffer Hald designed quite a few of typographically rich logotypes. Full frame flash websites are always fun too (though I wish it wouldn’t turn black between the slides). Craig Ward’s Words Are Pictures displays similar fine details and ingenuity in larger pieces: posters, editorials. He loves to work and try type experiments with his Adana 5×3 printing press. •
Bag maker Crumpler bets on weirdest, quirkiness and humour to sell bags, somehow dosing it right to get associated with authenticity and good design. They are so creative, they even come up with their own ABC. •

Hot, slick n’ sexy: Justice’s latest clip DVNO pimped out pretty much all the 80s logos and typography clichés. I love how they tweaked the song to amplify the images; it also implies the musicians actually have a say in all of this. By the way, à moins que t’hibernes depuis Décembre, tu sais déjà que Justice sera à Montreal le 16 mars prochain. •
